Recently, I found many of my friends took the Roomie Test which is an application on Facebook. This application was published by a real estate agent company. How do the roomie test work?

so basically, you just need to click on “take the roomie test” and they will choose the best roomate suited with you. This application choose your roomie based on your facebook friends, they analyse the mutual friends, the common things you have with your friends. After the roomie has been chosen, you will be provided an option to share it on your Facebook Timeline, so your friends will recognise it and will be able to take the roomie test as well. Below the results, you will see a caption

This application was launched by a real estate agent company called Fastighetsbyran. I think they have a good idea by using Facebook application to promote their service. They provide an attraction which is the roomie test so that people will be interested in entering their website.

By people sharing their result on their Facebook, more people will recognize the application, and it will raise the awareness of this particular real estate agent company. Not only that, this company also relate to this application perfectly, as some people who take the roomie test is likely to be someone who are looking for a roommate and also looking for a place to share with them.

Using Instagram for promotion

Instagram is used to be an application that commonly used to share photos among its users. But now, it is proven that Instagram has become an effective media to market a product/ brand.

Not only brand, Companies also promote an upcoming film as well. Companies believe that through Instagram, it will increase the awareness of their product as it has many users. Previously, Facebook and Twitter were mostly used as a platform to promote products, but now Instagram has taken their place since it currently has more than 200 million users. Can you imagine, how many users will recognize our posts just by a simple step (just upload it)? This has made Instagram become the world’s fastest social media platform compared to Facebook, Twitter and other social media platform

– Convenient (as Instagram is on the phone, people can update their photos – whenever they want)

Recently, I’ve been posting about the benefit of social media in marketing world. Today, I found another interesting topic that is about a benefit of using e-commerce.

First, why do people prefer buying online than buying in the actual store?

  1. Convenience – Save time, no queues, flexibility of time, no pressure from salesperson
  2. Better Prices – easier to get more deals/ offers because you buy the products directly from the manufacturer without middlemen involved.
  3. Variety – Can buy different brand at one place, can buy products from retailers in other parts of the country, greater selection of colours & sizes
  4. Fewer expenses – no transportation cost to get to the store
  5. Avoid crowds

Indeed, technology is rapidly growing and more people now count on technology for doing their needs. This is why online sales had become a trend among communities. Indeed, online sales bring profit to companies particularly Myer and Debenhams.

Both cases proved the rapid growth of online shopping and online business has taken place in the retail industry. In conclusion, companies who only had stores should consider expanding their business to online business to increase their profit. Other than increase profit, companies need less cost to create online business rather than opening another store.

A week ago, I saw a video about the new innovation from Samsung on Facebook. This video caught my attention since many of my faceboook friends shared it and liked it.

The ad tells a story of how a distance could make a couple missed their precious moment together. So Samsung wants to help two people who were separated by distance to be able to share important moment together by the presence of the world’s first live virtual reality birth called Samsung Gear VR.

Check out this beautiful 3 minutes advertising by Samsung !! It will definitely move your heart.

This ad has attracted viewers because of its originality and creativity. This video also has its own hash tag called #lifeLIVE. Not only #lifeLIVE, Samsung also create another hash tag called #SharkDive which basically provides the experience of diving with sharks by using Samsung Gear VR
